CERVIERES - Altitude : 2040 m - Capacity : 60 persons - The Refuge des Fonts is open from mid-June to mid-September.
The hamlet of FONTS located at the foot of the Pic Lombard between the Parc du Queyras and the Briançonnais has long been an alpine village before becoming a tourist spot thanks to the passage of the GR58 (tour of Queyras) of which Mr Philippe LAMOUR is the founder. The Fonts de Cervières refuge was built in this hamlet housing typical alpine chalets dating from 1770.

Les FONTS, a hamlet at the foot of Pic Lombard between the Queyras Park and Briançon, was a mountain village long before its location on the GR58 (Tour du Queyras hiking trail founded by Mr. Philippe LAMOUR) began to attract tourists. The Refuge des Fonts de Cervières was established in this hamlet of typical mountain chalets dating from 1770.

Lac des cordes

From the refuge, take the path alongside the Cerveyrette river for 1.5km. At the Chalps bridge, turn left and follow the very well-maintained footpath. After climbing for half an hour, you'll come to a 10-metre rock section, fitted with a hand cable for your safety, which presents no real difficulty. On leaving the woods, the path continues to the Cordes lake (2,446m). After the lake, turn left at the large cairn and head to the Marsailles pass (2,601m). Make the descent to the Coutier sheepfold. At the cabin, the path disappears into the stream, but keep going until the terrain changes and you take a last hairpin bend at the spot where the GR58 meets the Venton torrent. Cross the bridge and follow the GR trail to return to the Refuge des Fonts (2,040m)

Grand Glaiza

From the refuge follow the path along the Pierre Rouge torrent to the Malrif pass (2,868m). At the pass, turn left and follow the Eaux Pendantes ridge to Pic de Malrif for a beautiful view over the entire Queyras valley and the Italian Alps. On a clear, cold day you can even see Mont Blanc. For the descent, take the same route back to the pass and follow the GR trail to the Refuge des Fonts.

Petit Rochebrune

From the refuge, head for the Peas pass, crossing the Venton torrent. Follow the GR trail for 200 metres with the torrent on your left. Go past a modest moraine and cross the mountain pastures in a semi-circle until you reach the South-West crest of Petit Rochebrune. At about 2,850 metres, follow the same route which climbs the crest, or go down the rocky slope to the sources of the Venton torrent. Pick up the GR again on the bank of the stream and follow it to Les Fonts Refuge.
