From the refuge, take the path alongside the Cerveyrette river for 1.5km.
At the Chalps bridge, turn left and follow the very well-maintained footpath.
After climbing for half an hour, you'll come to a 10-metre rock section, fitted with a hand cable for your safety, which presents no real difficulty.
On leaving the woods, the path continues to the Cordes lake (2,446m).
After the lake, turn left at the large cairn and head to the Marsailles pass (2,601m).
Make the descent to the Coutier sheepfold. At the cabin, the path disappears into the stream, but keep going until the terrain changes and you take a last hairpin bend at the spot where the GR58 meets the Venton torrent. Cross the bridge and follow the GR trail to return to the Refuge des Fonts (2,040m)
